PARK CITY and surrounding valleys

Tucked into the hills of Snyderville just outside Park City, Cove Trailhead offers a peaceful, nature-forward setting surrounded by rolling hills, native grasses, sagebrush, and expansive mountain views. Its open landscape creates a distinctly Utah backdrop while still being conveniently located within minutes of Park City, making it a lovely option for guests who want a more rustic outdoor experience without traveling far into the mountains.
The setting is natural rather than manicured, with wide-open skies and beautiful views across the surrounding hills and valley. Seasonal grasses and changing mountain colors give the area a different character throughout the warmer months, making it especially beautiful around golden hour and into early fall.
Reaching the picnic area may require a short walk along natural, uneven terrain, so comfortable, sturdy footwear is strongly recommended. It’s also possible to setup this picnic close to the parking lot for convenience. There is no shade along the trail or at the picnic area, making sun protection and appropriate clothing especially important during warmer months. There are also no restroom facilities at the trailhead or along the trail, so guests should plan accordingly before arriving.
As a public trail and open-space area, hikers, mountain bikers, and other recreational users may occasionally pass through. Exact picnic placement will be selected based on trail activity, ground conditions, seasonal vegetation, and available space at the time of the event.
Best for: Casual gatherings, small groups, family outings, and relaxed celebrations.
Feel: Open, natural, scenic, and adventurous.
Parking: Designated trailhead parking is available.
Restrooms: None. There are no restroom facilities at the trailhead or along the trail.
Accessibility: A short walk over natural, uneven terrain may be required. Comfortable, sturdy footwear is strongly recommended.

Nearby: Snyderville Basin, Kimball Junction, Canyons Village, Park City, and surrounding open-space trails.
Good to know: This is a natural open-space setting rather than a manicured park. Guests should be comfortable with uneven terrain, sun exposure, and limited amenities. The area remains open to other recreational users during your experience.

Located in the heart of charming Midway, Centennial Park offers a peaceful green setting surrounded by mature trees and the relaxed, small-town atmosphere of Heber Valley. Its combination of open lawn, natural wetland features, and established shade makes it a lovely choice for guests looking for an easy and inviting outdoor setting without traveling far from town.
The park's central location makes it especially convenient for guests staying in Midway or the surrounding Heber Valley, while nearby mountain scenery provides a beautiful reminder of the area's alpine surroundings. Compared with some of our more remote destinations, Centennial Park offers a comfortable and approachable setting with level grassy areas that are well suited for picnics and small gatherings.
Because Centennial Park is located near Midway's Town Square and community spaces, activity levels can vary throughout the year. The surrounding area can become particularly busy during community events and festivals, so exact setup placement will be selected based on park activity and available space at the time of your experience.

Tucked into the mountains near East Canyon, Mormon Flat offers a peaceful, rustic setting surrounded by open meadows, rolling hills, and natural mountain scenery. Its quieter, more remote atmosphere makes it a beautiful choice for guests looking to step away from the busier areas of Park City and enjoy a celebration that feels intimate, relaxed, and near nature.
The area is part of East Canyon State Park and sits along the historic Mormon Pioneer Trail, giving the landscape a wonderfully untouched, old-Utah feel. A hiking and biking trail begins at Mormon Flat and continues toward Big Mountain, while the surrounding sagebrush, grasses, and mountain terrain create a simple and scenic backdrop.
Mormon Flat is a primitive recreation area, so amenities are intentionally limited. Vault toilets are available, but there is no drinking water on-site. Parking is available in designated areas and requires a $5 parking fee. The more remote location generally offers a quieter experience than developed community parks.
Because of its natural setting and limited amenities, Mormon Flat is best suited for guests who value scenery, privacy, and a more adventurous destination experience over the conveniences of an in-town park.
In addition to this being a day use area, it is also a campground, so you may see campers here as well.
Best for: Guests looking for a quieter mountain setting.
Feel: Secluded, rustic, peaceful, natural, and distinctly Utah.
Parking: Designated parking is available within the recreation area for a $5 fee.
Restrooms: Vault toilets are available; there is no drinking water on-site.
Nearby: Mormon Pioneer Trail, East Canyon, Big Mountain, Little Emigration Canyon Recreation Trail, and scenic mountain drives.
Good to know: Amenities are limited, making this a better choice for guests comfortable with a more primitive outdoor setting. This space is a campground and day use area, so you may see campers here as well.

A lovely choice for a romantic, garden-like setting, Memory Grove Park pairs mature trees and open lawns with historic monuments, stone features, and the natural beauty of City Creek Canyon. Tucked just below the Utah State Capitol, the park feels surprisingly peaceful while remaining close to downtown Salt Lake City, nearby restaurants, and attractions.
Parking near the park is limited, and guests should be prepared for a short walk depending on availability. Restrooms are available on-site. Because Memory Grove is a popular public space for walkers, photographers, and visitors—particularly on weekends and during beautiful weather—some areas may feel more active at peak times. We select our setup area based on conditions that day, favoring quieter lawn spaces with mature trees and attractive natural surroundings.
Best for: Couples, anniversaries, small gatherings, and guests seeking a romantic setting.
Feel: Romantic, historic, shaded, garden-like, and quietly elegant.
Parking: Limited parking is available nearby; a short walk to the picnic location may be required.

A unique alternative to a traditional park setting, the International Peace Gardens feature beautifully landscaped grounds, mature trees, winding pathways, stonework, monuments, and garden areas inspired by countries from around the world. The varied scenery gives this location a whimsical, almost storybook quality and provides plenty of character for guests looking for something distinctive within the Salt Lake Valley.
Parking is available near the gardens, with a short walk into the grounds. Restrooms are available within Jordan Park. As a public botanical and cultural garden, the area attracts walkers, photographers, families, and other visitors, particularly during weekends and peak blooming seasons. Picnic setups remain within appropriate public lawn areas so that pathways, monuments, planted garden beds, and cultural features remain undisturbed.
Best for: Couples, anniversaries, birthdays, intimate gatherings, and guests who love gardens and distinctive surroundings.
Feel: Garden-inspired, romantic, whimsical, colorful, and unique.
Parking: Available near the gardens; a short walk with personal belongings should be expected.
Restrooms: Available within Jordan Park.

A beautiful choice for guests wanting an open mountain setting without traveling deep into Utah’s backcountry, Little Mountain Summit sits above Emigration Canyon surrounded by rolling foothills, native grasses, and expansive views. The wide-open landscape and changing evening light create a peaceful, distinctly Utah atmosphere that is especially beautiful around sunset.
Parking is available near the trail access point. From the parking lot, guests will cross the street and walk approximately 5–10 minutes up a small hill to reach the picnic destination and scenic overlook. The walk is rewarded with expansive views of both the surrounding mountains and the lake, creating a memorable setting for a relaxed outdoor experience.
Unlike a manicured park, this is a natural mountain environment with uneven ground, limited shade, and greater exposure to wind and changing weather. Setup locations are therefore selected carefully based on ground conditions, weather, and the surrounding vegetation.
Best for: Couples, proposals, anniversaries, sunset picnics, and small intimate gatherings.
Feel: Natural, secluded, expansive, rustic, and distinctly Utah.
Parking: Available near the trail access point; a 5–10 minute uphill walk across the street is required to reach the overlook.

A charming choice for a relaxed countryside setting, Wheeler Historic Farm pairs expansive lawns and mature trees with historic farm buildings, pastures, and the character of a working farm. The farm is a popular public destination, so guests may encounter families, walkers, farm visitors, and seasonal activities throughout the property. Animals and normal working-farm sights, sounds, and activity are also part of the experience. Picnic locations are selected within appropriate outdoor areas and do not include access to private buildings or reserved event spaces unless specifically arranged.
Best for: Couples, families, birthdays, small gatherings, and guests seeking a countryside atmosphere.

A scenic choice along Salt Lake City's eastern foothills, Donner Trail Park combines spacious green areas with an elevated setting near the entrance to Emigration Canyon. Open skies and views across the surrounding landscape make this location especially appealing in the softer evening light, while its East Bench location keeps it convenient to downtown Salt Lake City and nearby neighborhoods.
Parking is available near the park, and the open lawn areas make access relatively straightforward. Because Donner Trail Park is a public neighborhood park, recreational activity and other visitors should be expected, particularly during weekends and pleasant weather. The open setting also provides less protection from sun and wind than some of our more wooded locations, making weather and time of day important considerations.
Best for: Couples, families, small gatherings, celebrations, and sunset picnics.
Feel: Open, elevated, relaxed, scenic, and contemporary.
Parking: Available near the park with generally convenient access to the lawn areas.
Restrooms: Availability may be limited; guests should plan accordingly.
